Doug Law was born and grew up in the beautiful Treasure Valley (Boise area) of Idaho.
After graduating from high school in 1974, he attended Rick's College. In April of 1975, he left for Ecuador where he spent two years learning Spanish and developing an appreciation for different cultures, which has been personally beneficial for him throughout his career in law enforcement.
Returning to the states in 1977, he attended Rick's College and Brigham Young University. In 1978 he met and married his wife, Carolyn.
His career in law enforcement began in 1982, when, due to his Spanish skills, he was hired out of 200 applicants to fill one position for Caldwell, Idaho, Police Department.
In 1984, he went to work for the Police Department in Montpelier, Idaho. In August of 1985, he was asked to serve as Chief of that Department, which he did until June of 1992. It was then that he took his wife and five children back to Caldwell, where he took a position as Lieutenant over investigations and services. When his Chief left in December of 1995, he was asked to fill the vacancy. In September of 1999, after five years as Chief for Caldwell, Doug accepted the position as Chief of Police for Mesquite, Nevada.
He loves his new home in the desert, serving the public and being with his family as much as possible.
He believes "To prevent crime we must prevent the criminal, therefore, love, spend time with, and teach values to your children."
