The Mesquite Animal Shelter named Nancy and Carey Robillard their 2012 “Volunteers of the Year” on Thursday, Jan. 24 at a luncheon held at the Falcon Ridge Golf Club.
“Nancy and Carey have been volunteering at the shelter for 10 years and are willing to do whatever it takes to make the animals stay at the shelter a comfortable one,” said Animal Control Manager, Joe Macias. “Nancy is one of our coordinators and Carey has developed a data base for use at the shelter and they have even driven dogs and cats to the various rescues for us.”
There were approximately 40 residents who volunteered 3296 hours of their time to help out at the shelter during 2012. This saved the City of Mesquite an estimated $66,249.60.

Guests at the luncheon included representatives from Because Animals Matter (BAM), We Care for Animals, Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue and the Mesquite Police Department.
