Mesquite Police arrest two with six pounds of Methamphetamine

Mesquite Police Officers stopped a black Volkswagen passenger vehicle which was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 for a routine traffic violation during the early morning hours of March 10th.

Officers conducted a K-9 “sniff” of the air around the exterior of the vehicle.  K-9, Noro reacted to an odor in the area of the vehicles trunk.  Officers searched the trunk and located five containers which were vacuum sealed and wrapped in tape. 

Officers conducted a preliminary Narcotics Identification System (NIK) test which the contents of the containers showed positive for Methamphet

Arrested were Gregory Morgan, 26, of Cass Lake, Minnesota and David Pinney, 35, of Maples, Minnesota for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.  Morgan and Pinney were taken to the Mesquite Detention Center (MDC) for processing and then later transported to the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.amine. The six pounds of Methamphetamine has an estimated 
value of $270,000.

“It is a known fact drugs travel up and down the I-15 corridor”, said Chief Troy Tanner.  “I am proud of MPD officers and their proactive approach to drug enforcement.”
