Mesquite Police Officers are gearing up for the annual “Shop with a Cop” event on Thursday, December 20th.

The “Shop with a Cop” program pairs police officers and volunteers with children who are selected by staff members at Virgin Valley and J. L. Bowler Elementary schools to go shopping at participating businesses to buy gifts for the students and their families.

After shopping the children and their partner will enjoy lunch provided by the local Elks Lodge (#2811) and get their pictures taken with Santa Claus.

Local businesses and residents have been very generous with donations to the program which builds positive officer/youth relationships. “It is evident by the donations received how committed this community is to providing a memorable holiday experience for the children in this Valley. We appreciate the community’s support.” said Police Chief Troy Tanner.

If anyone would like to make a donation please contact Officer Jeffrey Smith (PIO) at (702) 346-5262 Ext#6134.  Or you can drop off donations at the Mesquite Police Department located at 695 Mayan Circle.  Checks should be made payable to the Mesquite Police Department.
