Mesquite Police Recognize Dispatchers During Telecommunications Week

The Mesquite Police Department would like to recognize and thank our police dispatchers who work tirelessly to serve as the invisible lifeline between the public and emergency responders. Answering a call with “911, what is the location of your emergency,” is just the beginning of a dispatcher’s job.

Rapidly switching calls back and forth between emergency personnel and callers, the dispatcher closely monitors what is happening on scene in a complicated effort which includes tracking all personnel and resources. Dispatchers are assigned numerous other duties when not answering calls for service.

The Mesquite Police Department has eight dispatchers who answer calls for the Mesquite Police Department, Mesquite Fire & Rescue, and the Beaver Dam Fire Department. All dispatchers are CPR certified and qualified to direct callers in life saving measures until help arrives on scene.
