Mesquite Police Solve “Car-hopping” Spree

On Friday May 16th the Mesquite Police Department began receiving calls about vehicles that had been burglarized over night; the calls continued coming in through Saturday.  The majority of the reported incidents were south of Mesquite Boulevard and East of Grapevine Road.

 Chief Tanner requested a saturation patrol and assigned Detectives to the area. Early Sunday morning Detectives were able to identify 19 year old, Ryan M. Prescott of Mesquite, Nevada as a suspect in the car-hopping spree.

 Prescott was arrested Sunday morning, on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant, in addition to the warrant and charged with Obstructing a Public Officer.

Prescott will be transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges of:

  • Burglary, motor vehicle (10 counts)
  •   Possession of Stolen Property (16 counts)
  •  Possession of drug paraphernalia (6 counts)
  •  Possession Credit Card without Owners Consent (3 counts)
  • Additional charges are pending

At this time the Mesquite Police Department is aware of eleven vehicles that were burglarized, and has recovered some of the stolen items.  Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to call the Mesquite Police Department Tip Line at (702) 346-8826.
