Mesquite, NV – Chief Troy Tanner and the Mesquite Police Department (MPD) want to thank the citizens, businesses, and friends of Mesquite for their generous donations to the annual Shop with a Cop program.

This year a total of 38 officers from the Mesquite Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and The Department of Homeland Security Investigations were able to take approximately 60 elementary age children Christmas shopping to help make their holiday brighter.

MPD would like to thank the following people, businesses, and organizations, which helped make this year’s Shop with a Cop another huge success:

David and Deborah Ballweg, Walmart, Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811, Golf Fore Kids, Mesquite Gaming LLC, Mesquite Veterans’ Center, Mesa View Hospital, Dollar Tree, Mesquite Citizen Journal, Anne Hunt, Donald Belford, Barbara & Robert Hecker, Diane & David Dolan, Carol Blessinger, Betty Jo & Martin Harriet, Robert & Patricia Bauer, Jerry and Jeannie Freund, Steven & Christina Balek, Mesquite High Rollers Motorcycle Club, Sandi Randle, Anthony & Carol Planick, James & Mercedes Wike, David & Kathleen Rusk, John Ferry, Gary Underwood, Margaret & Roderick Edwards, Frank & Patricia Adams, Marion Starr, Ray & Jean Kaminska, Tad Bullen, Dave Hawley, Helen Hideshima, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.

“To have the opportunity to provide a memorable Christmas for the children is the highlight of our year. A majority of the kids are humble; they shop for family members before themselves and this year we had one child bring coupons,” said Troy Tanner, Chief of Police.  Tanner continued, “It is unbelievable what people in this community are willing to give. I am proud to represent the City of Mesquite.”
