On January 18th, at approximately 8:20 P.M., while on patrol, a Mesquite Police Officer stopped a vehicle after observing a traffic violation.  While speaking with the driver, the officer observed the driver and passenger may have been involved in illegal drug activity.  A Mesquite Police drug dog was deployed and alerted to odors of illegal drugs inside of the vehicle.  Officers then searched the vehicle for illegal drugs, and both the driver and passenger were found to be transporting and trafficking crystal methamphetamines and heroin.  Officers also located multiple items of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle.  The officers were able to take both suspects safely into custody.

Kade Hammer, 43, of Washington Utah, was arrested and charged with:  One felony count of trafficking a controlled substance (meth), one felony count of trafficking a controlled substance (heroin), and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hunter Winn, 23, of St George Utah, was arrested and charged with: One felony count of trafficking a controlled substance (meth), one felony count of trafficking a controlled substance (heroin), and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Just the week prior on a separate incident, on January 13th, at approximately 9:30 P.M., an officer had stopped a vehicle for running through a red light.  While on that traffic stop, a Mesquite Police drug dog was deployed, and located black tar heroin and trafficking amounts of crystal methamphetamines inside of the vehicle.  Similar to the January 18th arrest, two suspects were safely taken into custody for the controlled substance violations.

Brian Johnson, 47, of Taylorsville Utah, was arrested and charged with:  One felony count of trafficking a controlled substance (meth) and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Letitia Hock, 38, of Salt Lake City Utah, was arrested and charged with: One felony count of possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
