Mesquite, NV ---The Cooperative Extension donated three car seats to the Mesquite Police Department to be used for transporting children out of dangerous situations.

The Cooperative Extension and Salvation Army Family Resource Center provides free car seat safety inspections the third Wednesdays of each month.  The next car seat check up will be on Wednesday, Dec. 12th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 355 W. Mesquite Blvd. B-50, Mesquite.

Research shows that 8 out of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly. Education and information to improve these numbers is of critical need in our community. According to Safe Kids and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a correctly used safety seat reduces fatality risk by 71 percent and serious injury risk by 67 percent.

Car seats are available for a donation if your car seat is part of a recall, out dated or not the appropriate car seat for the child.

Bilingual fitting technicians are available. Appointments are strongly encouraged and may be made by calling 702-346-7215 x3 or 345-5116 for a time that’s convenient for you.
