Mayor Mark Wier is proud to announce the opening of a new
city-operated BMX bike track facility, located at 49 East Old Mill Road.
The Chamber of Commerce will be doing an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the track on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10 am. The public is invited to attend.
A group of little youth brought forward the idea of a BMX bike track to Mayor Wier several months ago. The Mayor was able to work with Council, City Staff and the boys to find a proper location and have a track built at minimal cost to the City. Mayor Wier noted, “It is always exciting to see the community come together and support a project. This case is extra special though, because the youth of our community are the ones who got involved and worked to help bring this project to fruition. What a great life lesson about civic engagement and the public process.”
Ethan Richards, the young man who spearheaded the initial effort, will be at the grand opening on April 26.
