If your smoke detector is going off, please call 9-1-1 immediately, we’ll come right out!

CERT Members will change smoke detector batteries on the 1st Tuesday of each month between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.  The next date is November 3, 2015.

We are pleased to offer free smoke detector battery replacement to residents that meet the following criteria:
   1. Live within the City of Mesquite
   2. Own and occupy your home. (Renters don’t qualify, landlords are required by law to provide functional smoke                 detectors).

   3. No Ceilings over 12 foot tall.

Meet one of the following criteria:
   1. 65 years of age
   2. Handicapped or physically disabled
   3. Special circumstances (please provide explanation on form)

Applicants are asked to submit the electronic form request on Mesquitenv.gov or you may email your request directly to Jean Bataglia at: beader_painter42@msn.com  Jean is the Coordinator and she will then call you to make the appointment. If you do not have access to a computer, please call the office at 702-346-2690 and we will submit the request via email for you. The smoke detector batteries will be installed by CERT members at no cost to the resident. Requests will be honored in the order received each month.

Nine volt battery donations are accepted to help fund this life-saving program. They may be dropped off at Station 3, located at 3 John Deere Drive in Mesquite.

Change battery:
Replace the batteries in your smoke alarm at a minimum of once a year. Mesquite Fire Rescue recommends you do this when you change your clocks to Daylight Savings Time each fall.  Battery operated smoke detectors should also be tested once a month.
