The 2013 Mesquite Municipal Elections are just around the corner. The Primary Election is April 2, 2013 and the
General Election is June 4, 2013. Three
City Council Member positions will be open.
Candidacy filing for these seats will open in the Office of the City
Clerk on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. and will close on February 1,
2013 at 11:30 a.m. Filing hours will be Monday thru Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on
Friday, January 25 and February 1 from: 8am to 11:30 am. The candidacy
filing fee is $25.00, which is payable by cash,
check, certified check, or money order.
Mesquite Municipal Code requires a candidate must be an actual and bona
fide resident of the City and have been for a period of at least one year
preceding the election.
Also, each candidate shall be a qualified elector who has actually, as
opposed to constructively, resided within the boundaries of the City which
he/she desires to represent for a period of not less than 30 days immediately
prior to the last day for filing a Declaration of Candidacy. City Council Members shall be elected by the
registered voters of the City at large. Council
members newly elected would each serve a one-time term of five years beginning
July 1, 2013.
