Summer is fast approaching
and for those responsible young adults looking for certification of becoming a
lifeguard, the Department of Athletics & Leisure Services has set up special times and dates with the City of St.
George Aquatics Division and they are offering a Lifeguard Training Class. The
class will run Monday through Friday, April 14 – April 18, 2014 (Clark County
School District, Spring Break).
Monday 2:00PM – 7:00PM
Tuesday 10:30AM – 4:30AM
Wednesday 2:00PM – 7:00pm
Thursday 10:30AM – TBA on material.
Friday 2:00 PM – Review & Test.
All times will be Mountain Standard Time.
The classes will be held at the Sand Hollow Aquatics Center, Instructed by Michele Howells
This class is American Red Cross approved the lifeguard training class which instructs and prepares participants on the knowledge and physical skills needed to respond to an emergency with in the aquatics area. Class is limited to 15 students.
To attend the class, you must be able to complete a 300 yards swim using the free style stroke, breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes with out using your hands and retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 10 feet of water. The swimming tests will be held the first day of class, please bring your swimming suits and a towel; every day. The deadline for registration will be March 29, 2014.
