Weather and housing are two of the Mesquite community's key strengths. Over 300 days of sunshine per year, infrastructure in place for future growth and affordable housing of all types will help to fuel our growth once again. Mesquite's economic development efforts ensure that we utilize these key strengths to continue to build a thriving community with amenities for citizens and visitors of all ages.
Today we are cautiously optimistic about the economic recovery. We have learned to carefully consider our individual financial situations and to use a more conservative approach in our investments. The University of Nevada Las Vegas Center for Business and Economic Research suggest, "...we are in the early stages of a housing market recovery in Nevada...Affordable housing remains a positive as increased population will foster growth in Nevada's economy." (Kennelly: Nevada Housing Market showing Signs of Life, April 2013).
Local real estate statistics concur with the assessments of the UNLV Lee Business School. New houses are slowly being built and local inventory is shrinking. These are all signs that Mesquite is part of the early recovery throughout Southern Nevada. I look forward to the future of Mesquite.
