Over the next few months, the City wants to introduce to the public the City of Mesquite Draft Bikeways Development Plan.  The plan was developed in partnership with the Regional Transportation Commission.  The City of Mesquite Development Services Department invites you to read and become familiar with the plan, and to submit any comments or questions.  At the end of this public outreach period, the City will make any necessary changes to the plan and schedule a public hearing before the City Council to consider its adoption.

Through this process the City hopes to accomplish several things:

  • To help motorists and bicyclists become more aware of what it means to share the road, and to better understand some ways in which that might be accomplished
  • To help people understand that complete streets should be designed to accommodate all forms of transportation – pedestrian, vehicular, bicycling, and mass transportation
  • To identify points in the current circulation system which need improvement to better accommodate bicyclists, and / or to make cycling more usable and safe
  • To support and encourage increased levels of bicycling

A copy of the draft Bikeways plan is available for download (see below) or a copy can be requested at the Development Services Department at City Hall 10 E. Mesquite Blvd.  Comments and questions about the draft plan can be submitted to Richard Secrist at or by calling 702-346-2835.
