Baseball March Madness


MESQUITE, NV (March 11, 2013)—This weekend, March Madness of another kind--this one a baseball tournament--comes to town with the Rocky Mountain School of Baseball (RMSB) hosting their second of four big weekends this year in Mesquite.


There are 255 teams, with more than 3,000 players, participating in the 14th annual RMSB March Madness Tournament. Games in the 10u, 11u, 13u and 14u divisions will be played at Pioneer Park, Hunter Sports Park, Old Mill and Virgin Valley High School. Other games and divisions will play on ballfields throughout Southern Utah and as far south as Overton.  Teams are from Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and the majority of from Utah. 

"The March Madness Tournament is the perfect way to start off RMSB's 20th Year of Baseball," said Rhett Udy, RMSB tournament director. "We have enjoyed our 20-year relationship with the City of Mesquite and, I believe our teams have enjoyed it too!  We look forward to many more years of baseball in Mesquite."

“We are pleased to be a key part of the regional events that the Rocky Mountain School of Baseball produces throughout the year,” said Bryan Dangerfield, Mesquite Director of Athletics & Leisure Services.  “The young talent these tournaments bring to Mesquite is good for spurring interest and for growing our local baseball abilities.”


RMSB returns to Mesquite for an Easter Tournament on March 28-30 and next October 25-27 for the Fall Extravaganza.


At the Mesquite Sports & Event Complex on Saturday, F.C. Mesquite will host its second week of league youth games of the season.


Youth flag football and coed and men’s softball City Leagues are in season. Youth flag football is played at the Recreation Center West Field and coed and men’s softball games are at Hunter Sports Park.


Signups for the inaugural season of the Virgin Valley Little League baseball are being taken at the Rec Center. April 15 is the season opener.


The Mesquite Recreation Center, The Duece, Mesquite Campus and Mesquite Senior Center are venues where the City provides numerous affordable programs for health, fitness, fun and social activity.
