Mesquite Ranked #2 Safest City in Nevada for 2023

SafeWise is an online safety resource that regularly releases “Safest Cities” reports, and other reports on a variety of safety topics to raise awareness about the state of safety in our country.  The data comes from the most recent FBI crime report. Additionally, SafeWise considers the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) in each city.  They also factor in the number of property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft).  Finally, they calculate the rate of crimes per 1,000 people in each city; thus making a city-to-city comparison easier.

In the latest State of Safety survey, 48% of respondents in Nevada reported concern for their safety. This is about the same as the national average of 50%. This may be due to crime rates in the state that are above the national average. Even so, violent crime has dropped year over year and the safest cities saw only a fraction of the state rates for both crime categories.
