A welcome letter from the Mayor of Mesquite - "We are currently the fastest growing city in Nevada"
A welcome letter from the Mayor of Mesquite - "We are currently the fastest growing city in Nevada"
We’ve passed the mid-point of 2021 and I’m more optimistic than ever about our beautiful city. I know that this year will be the start of many exciting years to come for Mesquite. We are moving forward with no looking back.
We’ve had our challenges over the last decade; we couldn’t predict the great recession that hit us hard. As you remember, we went from unprecedented growth to layoffs; businesses closing; home foreclosures and a population drop. We couldn’t predict a pandemic, however; even with the adversities we faced, we’ve regained our status as a great place to live, work, raise our families and retire if so desired. We are the envy of the rest of Nevada.
With our growth, we are well positioned to move forward. We have outstanding infrastructure; well managed City government and new businesses that have recently come to Mesquite. Exit 118 on I-15 has brought us new planned development in our industrial area. The nearby Flying J and Sinclair are thriving as well as McDonald’s, Panda Express with more to come.
I believe the addition of natural gas will go a long way in bringing this continued planned development as we move forward. I am no longer as cautious as I have been in the past. Our community is changing quickly for the better every day. I firmly believe that the ups and downs of the past are behind us and we’ve learned to deal with adversity as we grow and mature. We still need to approach each and every new opportunity carefully; as in the case of every new proposed development, we must vet them carefully, always keeping the betterment of our City at the forefront of our minds.
My goal, as Mayor, as it has always been in the past, is to keep Mesquite a wholesome community that will keep, as well as bring new residents of all ages to us. We must never forget the importance of our residents. I am extremely proud of Mesquite and hope our residents and visitors feel the same way. Working together will reward the fruits of our labor and insure a bright future for Mesquite and all of us who are excited to call Mesquite ‘Home.’
Sincerely,
